There is no excuse for bored yawns on Sunday when Shellharbour's Reddall Reserve comes alive with entertainment for the Community Family Fun Day.

It is a highlight of the Shell Cove Shellharbour Festival of Sport and promises six hours of non-stop attractions.

The action kicks off at 10am with a busy schedule.

It combines a marching demonstration, Harley-Davidson bike rides, a junior iron-person event, plenty of food and drink stalls and a range of sporting demonstrations and clinics.

For those who want to take to the water, there are also cruises around Lake Illawarra for $1.

Experts in a range of sports including volley ball, touch football, kanga cricket, Aussie rules and basketball will be on hand to give demonstrations and encourage public participation.

``It's a chance for people to sample sports they may not have tried before and discover skills they didn't know they had," festival secretary Diane Johnston said.

Kids have a smorgasbord choice of fun attractions such as the Zap Zone laser tunnel, chair-o-planes, four-wheeler quad-runner bikes and mini golf.

Those who want adrenalin-pumping adventure can try the climbing wall which is being brought from Sydney.

There are also demonstrations in tai kwon do, karate and physical culture.

Food and novelty stalls will operate throughout the day.

The finale is the prize presentation to fishing competitors and the fish auction at 3.30pm.

Proceeds go to the Illawarra School of Autism Association of NSW.
